Mark Zuckerberg has an army of advisors employed to protect his reputation. But the latest controversy — that his superyacht failed to answer a maritime call for assistance off Alaska — was probably not near the top of their scenario-planning list.
Now, they are managing the fallout.
His team has responded by clarifying that Zuckerberg and his family were not aboard, the crew did not hear the request because it came over a different radio channel, and another vessel was already assisting by the time they became aware. It is a reminder that, in today’s environment, no scenario is too far-fetched. Organizations and high-profile leaders cannot predict every crisis, but they can prepare to respond quickly with verified facts, clear accountability and credible action.
At the end of the day, the crisis you never imagined may be the one that defines you.
